Inside the Home of HGTV's Jillian Harris

I first become familiar with Jillian Harris via the addicting HGTV show Love It or List It, but I really fell in love with her aesthetic via her regular posts on instagram and her blog. I was so excited to see a tour of her Kelowna home.  Here's a look:

My Pup Little Foot and Tour of our LA Home

1-Arianna&LittleFoot_AriannaBelle

Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA here lately. Have been really busy working hard behind the scenes on setting up a foundation for the shop to grow to the next level.

I wanted to share with you photos from a fun home tour shoot we did late last year, just before we moved out of our Los Angeles condo.  The shoot was for the stylish pet friendly living website Pretty Fluffy and features my furry lovable companion, Little Foot. Photos were taken by the sweet and talented photographer Alicia Rius of Frame Your Pet.

This was a one-bedroom condo we had purchased back in 2008 and lived in for a few years, then decided to rent out for awhile (during which time we lived in this home), then moved back in for a couple of months before selling it so we could move closer to family and get something with more office space.

One of my favorite things about the space was that it was light and bright.  I loved the fresh paint color which we carried throughout the kitchen, dining space and living room.

This spot near the window in the dining space is where Little Foot always loved to sit in the morning to catch some sunlight.

We kept Little Foot's toys stored in a stylish magazine holder, which made it easy to move from space to space and keep them out of sight when not in use.

This was my office space, a corner of the living room. Small, but functional.

Little Foot looked handsome in his greek key collar from Blueblood Living.

I loved having these two tall bookcases flanking the fireplace. They added height to the space and provided great storage for our books and my collection of magazines.

Little Foot's second favorite spot to hang out was right on top of the sofa. I think he liked it because it gave him a view of outside and allowed him to watch over the home, like a king.

In our bedroom we went bold with dark blue paint on the walls, and dressed up the bed with Arianna Belle pillows, of course!

Happy Weekend!

I'm excited to be heading out tomorrow morning for a little weekend getaway with my husband for our 8 year anniversary of being together.  It will be the first weekend in awhile in which I'll truly be taking two full days off (no laptop to sneak in an hour of work here and there). We'll be touring the Hearst Castle and exploring the nearby surroundings.  From what I hear, it's absolutely beautiful.  I'll probably be instagramming a few photos in case you want to follow me along!

Have a great one!

Decor Plan for the Bedroom

This long weekend, I'm excited to put together our bedroom.  Here's what I have planned for the decor:

Bedroom Decor Plan // neutrals + navyduvet cover, decorative pillows, headboard, lamp, side table, sheet set, rug

As much as I'd love to get everything new, we aren't starting from scratch - the majority of items are carried over from our previous apartment. The rug we previously had in our old bedroom, and the side tables and lamps are the ones we previously had in our old living room.

The main things that will make this bedroom look different than our last, will be the paint color and the bedding - both of which I think make a significant impact.  For the wall color, we went with navy on the the two main walls, and a light grey on other two walls to keep it from feeling too dark.   As for the bedding we've chosen a beautiful grey border duvet from Crane and Canopy and two new decorative pillows from my shop. I'll be posting peeks on Instagram - I hope you'll follow along!

My Home Tour + Sources

As mentioned in a previous post, earlier this month, Style Me Pretty Living, one of my favorite lifestyle sites, featured a tour of my previous home. Since the feature went up, I've received inquires about the sources of some things, so I thought I'd post a complete list here for anyone else who may also be curious to know. Because the apartment was a rental that we planned to live in for only about 2 years or so and we had other priorities financially, when it came to decorating and furnishing it, we did so on a small budget, splurging only on a few select pieces.  BTW, this post from 2012 shows a few photos of what the place looked like when we first moved in!

FAQ

Q: The base of my Docksta table gets dirty easily from people resting their feet on it, how do you keep yours clean?

A: Magic Erasers

Q: How did you hide the wires and cords of your wall mounted TV in your living room?

Cynthia Collins Home Tour

So delighted that our Raja Embroidery pillow was featured in Domaine Home as part of the 'Get the Look' portion of their post on interior designer Cynthia Collins' home tour. Cynthia's home is absolutely beautiful and her design aesthetic definitely resonates with me.  Each space is bright and airy, yet cozy, with just the right dose of color.

Bedroom Decorating Progress: Artwork + Dresser Lamp

With all there is to do, oftentimes decorating our place gets put on the back burner. I've made it a goal though to squeeze in at least one decorating task per week, no matter how small, to make progress. In a way I think the fact that it has been a bit of a slow process has allowed me to appreciate and enjoy each individual little update more so than if I had done everything at once for a quick turnaround.

One of my most recent updates was hanging artwork in the bedroom. I got these beautiful photography prints I ordered from various Etsy sellers and put them in matching white frames from Ikea.  I love how they look together:

Another recent addition is this table lamp which I put on our dresser:dresser-top-arianna-belle-blog

As you can see, the dresser doesn't have a lot of surface space, so I needed a lamp that was fairly small. I also wanted it to be all white and a simple elegant shape.  The Continuum Lamp from Lamps.com fit the bill. It's just the right size, color and shape, and works nicely with the rest of the room's decor.

In an upcoming post, I'll share a photo of my bed which I've outfitted with beautiful embroidered sheets, and of course some great decorative pillows. I'll also show you what I added under my little bedside shelves to make space for some books and magazines. Stay tuned!

Irene's Colorful Abode

My friend Irene's beautiful SoCal home was featured on Apartment Therapy this week! If you haven't seen the tour yet, you're gonna love it. I've had the pleasure of stepping foot inside her home and it really is as fun and welcoming as the photos show (possibly even more so!).  This girl sure knows how to effectively bring together multiple colors, textures and patterns. She's one talented lady!

View the full tour here and come back here tomorrow for a How I Organize post featuring Irene!

Good Morning

Hello all! Did you have a good weekend? My sister's wedding turned out beautifully and we all had a wonderful time! I'll share a few pictures once we get them from the photographer :)

Isn't this bedroom lovely? So simple and serene. Perfect for rest and relaxation. Love that the blue patterned pillows and soft throw a bit of beautiful color.

Happy Earth Day

For a happy way to end the week and celebrate Earth Day, I thought I'd post this beautiful bedroom by Tobi Fairly, which most people wouldn't guess is an earth-friendly design. The cheerful tangerine and turquoise color palette really makes the room and dispells the idea that green decor is necessarily dull.

Most of the fabrics used throughout the room are organic cotton, many of the pieces are vintage or recycled, and the paint on the furntiure, accessories and walls are low-VOC. For detailed information on how the room is eco-friendly, click on over to Traditional Home.
