Navy + Orange & Quadrille's Potalla

Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes! I'll leave you today with this beautiful room by Porter Design Company. I'm in love with those gorgeous navy lacquered walls and the color combo of blue, orange, and turquoise. Love also that it incorporates Quadrille's Potalla fabric. It's such a gorgeous pattern and works so beautifully in the space.

For those of you who may be interested, I just recently added pillows made of that fabric in my shop!

Have a great weekend all!

Happy Earth Day

For a happy way to end the week and celebrate Earth Day, I thought I'd post this beautiful bedroom by Tobi Fairly, which most people wouldn't guess is an earth-friendly design. The cheerful tangerine and turquoise color palette really makes the room and dispells the idea that green decor is necessarily dull.

Most of the fabrics used throughout the room are organic cotton, many of the pieces are vintage or recycled, and the paint on the furntiure, accessories and walls are low-VOC. For detailed information on how the room is eco-friendly, click on over to Traditional Home.

A Warm and Cheery Living Room

Did you know there's a digital issue of Martha Stewart Living available for iPads? I haven't downloaded it since I don't have an iPad (ah..someday!) but I've heard great things about it.

Lucky for those of us without an iPad, some of the features are posted on Martha's website. One such feature is the warm and cheery living room of decorating editor Rebecca Robertson:

There are so many beautiful details to love -like the trim detail on the lamp shades, the white sawn balusters that were adhered to the walls to create a graphic statement, the Ikea glass front cabinets embellished with radiator grill material, and the DIY coffee table trays she made using baking sheets, zigzag fabric, and Plexiglass.

Do you have an iPad? Have you downloaded the magazine? If so, please do tell about the other fabulous features!

Bright Blue & Pink

As a person who loves color, I find spaces with a palette of bright pinks and blues to be lively and uplifting.

Megan Mullally's Home

My favorite feature in the latest issue of Elle Decor, is that of Megan Mullally's (Karen Walker!) Hollywood home. A quick look:

In the dining room, I love the idea of using Suzani panels to add interest and color to the walls.

I love that the accessories bring in fun punches of color in the living room...

...and in the breakfast room. When the room is otherwise pretty neutral it doesn't take a lot to make a high impact.

In the bedroom I love the simplicity of the decor...

...the floor-to-ceiling windows (and the gorgeous light they bring in!) make the room.

Last but not least, her pups are so incredibly adorable! I wonder if they go to a local LA dog park...I think they'd get along with Little Foot :-)
